Eventing Primer

For our new to Eventing supporters, or experienced Eventers who don't mind a review. Here is a nice little article on Eventing:

A quick summary on levels...

Lower Levels:

Beginner Novice (BN), comparable to a training level USDF dressage test, cross-country 2'7" max height fences with up to 3'3" for brush fences. And Stadium Jumping up to 2'7"

Novice (N), also comparable to a training level USDF dressage test, cross-country 2'11" max height fences with up to 3'3" for brush fences. And Stadium Jumping up to 2'11"

Training (T), comparable to a first level USDF dressage test, cross-country 3'3" max height fences with up to 3'11" for brush fences. And Stadium Jumping up to 3'3"


Upper Levels:

You must qualify to compete at this level.

Preliminary, comparable to some first and some second level USDF dressage tests, cross-country 3'7" max height fences with up to 4'3" for brush fences. And Stadium Jumping up to 3'7"

Intermediate, comparable to second level USDF dressage tests, cross-country 3'9" max height fences with up to 4'5" for brush fences. And Stadium Jumping up to 3'11"

Advanced, comparable to third level USDF dressage tests, cross-country 3'11" max height fences with up to 4'7" for brush fences. And Stadium Jumping up to 4'1"


And some fun dressage terms like, half-passes, flying changes, canter serpentine, and turns on haunches.
